I believe that each and every issue we are confronting after a release is known, documented, and determined if the software can be released with a lower standard of quality. ![]() It isn’t the programmers or the beta testers at fault here. That was the process and it was management’s decision to release anything that didn’t meet a certain level of quality. Impact on the customer’s environment and known workarounds all came into the review. Where I worked prior to a release all of the defects had to be reviewed and a decision was made whether to release the set of new features given the set of known defects. Having worked for a company that relied on the quality of its software to keep customers I am amazed at some of the things that come out of these releases. ![]()
